This past week in ISM has been both thrilling and demanding. My primary emphasis this week was on writing my first Research Assessment. I was so eager to have my first opportunity to study and write about my topic of interest, but it turned out to be a lot more challenging than I had anticipated.

Since I haven't determined which aspect of fashion interests me the most, I figured that evaluating an article that emphasizes the different elements of the fashion industry as a whole would be beneficial and appropriate for my first research assessment. The amount of new knowledge I gained about the many sectors of fashion while reading and studying Valerie Steele's article "Fashion industry" astounded me. The article dives into the particulars of the fashion industry, such as its major segments, global fashion, and the fashion system. My primary goal for my first research evaluation was to have a better understanding of the many facets of the fashion industry while also determining what interests me the most, which is exactly what I discovered after completing my analysis.

Annotating the article I read was very enjoyable for me, however writing out my thoughts and views on it wasn't. Before I began working on the assessment, I convinced myself that it wouldn't take long since I tend to go with the flow of my ideas when I work on something I'm enthusiastic about. Writing about fashion seemed like something I'd enjoy, so I wasn't expecting this assessment to be so challenging for me. Although I am extremely passionate about fashion, writing about it was not effortless for me, as I expected it would be. As I practice writing more research assessments, I aim to increase my efficiency and quality of my work.
